LEADING THE WAY FOR A SAFE HOUSE MOVE
MOVING HOUSE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC
REMOVALS CYPRUS – Moving house is a huge ordeal at the best of times, but how does it work during Covid-19? Are the Cyprus removal companies doing enough to protect us? Time doesn’t stand still during a pandemic, and every day, life has to go on. Very often, the need to move home is out of our control and cannot be planned. This could be due to the conclusion of a long house sale or the end of a rental lease. Many of us will find ourselves in this position during the following months, and it is good to know what the removal companies in Cyprus are doing to protect us during these times. Before booking any removal, we need to ask removal companies direct questions as to what they are doing to ensure a safe move.
We spoke to one of the leading removal companies in Cyprus, Peter Morton Removals, to find out what actions they are taking, to protect the health and safety of their clients and their team. Peter Morton explained, “At this time, this is our number one priority. Whilst we already had several safety procedures in place during the summer, we have now expanded these due to the increasing number of cases here in Cyprus. We are doing absolutely everything we can think of during these ever-changing and challenging times. We have implemented the directives from the British Association of Removers (BAR), for the prevention of the transfer of Covid-19. All our removal crews are observing these guidelines”. In this article, Cyprus in Style looks at just a few of the new safety measures, which have been introduced by Peter Morton Removals.
CONTACTLESS SITE REMOVAL SURVEY
Your property move will always start with a site survey, to enable the removal company to give you an accurate quote. Today, it is requested that this is done via a virtual video, if possible. This means that the survey is contactless, but at the same time, provides the removal company with all the information they need to quote for the job. Whilst you are in direct contact with the assessor, this is your chance to ask specific questions about what special measures they have introduced due to Covid-19.
REGULAR STAFF WELLNESS CHECKS
It is essential to know that the removal men, who will be coming into your home and touching all your worldly possessions, are not suffering or carrying Covid-19. This is why Peter Morton Removals monitors all their staff and carries out daily temperature checks, including for all staff working at their head office and warehouse buildings.
SOCIAL DISTANCING & USING PPE
In perfect conditions, Peter Morton Removals asks that only one member of the household be present at the property when it comes to ‘removal day’. If this is not possible, it is requested that household members stay confined to one room. This is so that they can ensure that social distancing measures, such as the 2-metre rule, are adhered to. In addition, all windows and doors should be wide open. Where it is necessary, the use of PPE will be implemented. For example, all staff, who travel together in one vehicle, will wear face masks.
REGULAR HAND WASHING & SANITATION
Peter Morton Removals asks that a dedicated hand sink be made available to their staff during the move. On arrival, the crew will thoroughly wash their hands as they enter the property. They will supply soap, paper towels and hand sanitiser.
NO DRINKS TO BE OFFERED TO THE CREW
In a further effort to prevent transmission of the virus, Peter Morton Removals asks their clients not to make drinks for the crew. They will always bring their own, including their own supply of water.
FULLY TRAINED STAFF ADHERE TO SAFETY MEASURES
The team at Peter Morton Removals Cyprus has received full instructions on how to move their clients safely during these times. They have been instructed on how to minimise the risk of contamination from washing their uniforms at high temperatures to planning for zero contact with the client.
PLAY YOUR PART AS THE CLIENT
Clients are also requested to do their bit, to ensure a safe move. It is asked that, as a client, if you show any symptoms of Covid-19, to let the removal company know immediately. The sanitising of any wipeable items that the crew may come into contact with is also advisable.
Peter Morton concluded, “We are living and working in extremely difficult times, but if we all follow the guidelines and work together, this enables our clients to still enjoy a safe and effective move. We feel that we have thought of everything, but we are constantly monitoring the situation. We will always adapt and change where necessary, as the safety of our clients and staff is always our top priority”.
