Here, we focus on a very popular coastal town called Peyia, which is based in the Pafos Region. Currently, Peyia is definitely one of the most popular places to live in Paphos.

PEYIA VILLAGE IS RENOWNED FOR BEING ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN PAPHOS

One village that many ex-pats in Cyprus have made their home, is Peyia. While it is often referred to as Peyia Village, it is actually now a small town after many years of ongoing development. Peyia is situated just a short 20-minute drive from Paphos (only 14 kilometres) and offers a host of beautiful properties for sale, as well as facilities such as traditional tavernas, bars, schools, gyms and the local Peyia Post Office. It is widely renowned for being one of the best places to live in Paphos and attracts many nationalities from far and wide. This multi-cultural village (or town) is populated with a combination of local Cypriots, a large British ex-pat community, an ever-increasing Scandinavian market and so many other nationalities all calling it ‘Home’.

A LOCAL RESIDENT TELLS US WHY SHE CHOSE TO BUY PROPERTY IN PEYIA

We spoke to one Peyia resident, Margarita Rice, to determine why she and her husband chose to settle in and buy property in Peyia. She explained how they took a map of Paphos and made a list of all the villages within the Pafos region. They then made a separate list of everything they required on a day-to-day basis and crossed off the villages that did not match their wish list. Peyia was the only village which could provide everything they needed.

Margarita Rice told us, “My parents are both Cypriot, but I lived in the UK for most of my adult life. My English husband and I moved to Cyprus 5 years ago, and we love living in Peyia Village. There is nowhere else we would rather live. Peyia is on the West of the Island and is the largest municipality in Cyprus. It encompasses a stunning coastline, the traditional fishing port of St. Georgios, the Akamas National Park with a turtle nesting site and Pykni Forest”.

MORE BENEFITS OF BUYING A PROPERTY IN PEYIA, PAPHOS

Peyia Village sits at an altitude of 200 metres, which means that many properties for sale in Peyia enjoy sea views over Coral Bay, as well as spectacular panoramic sunset views. There are many benefits to buying a house in Peyia, and numerous facilities which are, quite literally, on your doorstep. Coral Bay’s superb sandy beaches are just three minutes away, and the stunning landscape of the Akamas National Park is only five minutes by car. Although there are areas within Peyia that do feel isolated, it is worth knowing that the surrounding areas have a lot to offer. Ten minutes up the hill is the beautiful traditional village of Kathikas, which also offers an array of individual restaurants and wineries you can visit to stock up your wine cellar. With over 60 restaurants in the Peyia-Coral Bay–Sea Caves area, there is always somewhere to go to try something new.
