RESTAURANT REVIEW LIMASSOL
Sailor’s rest lounge bar restaurant
ST RAPHAEL RESORT, LIMASSOL
THE LOCATION
Nestled in the heart of St Raphael Marina, you will find the restaurant called Sailor’s Rest. It boasts uninterrupted views of the beautiful Mediterranean, the Limassol coastline and an array of magnificent yachts harboured at the marina. I’ve been lucky enough to experience the Sailor’s Rest’s brunch many times, but this is the first occasion for dinner. Like the many brunches before, dining at the Sailor’s Rest did not disappoint.
The restaurant itself is both airy and roomy and consequently felt cool, even on a hot evening. Our table was on the terrace, a few metres from the sea, where we enjoyed the view of the glorious sunset. The staff, as always, were welcoming and attentive with a broad knowledge of the extensive and varied menu.

THE MENU
Due to current measures, the menus are now presented in tablets, which are very easy to navigate. There is something for everyone on the menu, from fresh salads to various plates of pasta, a large selection of seafood, an array of meat dishes, vegetarian and vegan choices too! We opted for a Falafel Salad and ‘dips and bits’ for starters, which were both delicious and huge portions. There were so many dishes I wanted to try, the Rib Eye Steak for one and the Lobster and Crab Ravioli for another, but in the end, I went with the Tiger Prawn Curry. An excellent choice for me, as I love flavourful dishes and the aromatic dish really hit the spot. After much deliberation, my dining guests ordered the Rack of Lamb and the Salmon Java Pepper. All the dishes were beautifully presented. They were tasty and very generously sized portions!
SIGNATURE DISHES
Falafel and Rocket Salad: Chickpea and Broad Bean Fritters served with Rocket Salad, Cherry Tomatoes, Tahini, sprinkled with crispy Lebanese Pitta and Sesame Seeds (it is very tasty with wonderful textures).
Vegan Pasta: Strigoli Pasta, served with Fresh Vegetables, Sundried Tomatoes, Olives, Pine Nuts, laced with Olive Oil. A gluten-free option is also available.
Vegan Coconut Curry: Vegetables cooked with a Curry Sauce made from Coconut Milk, served with Wild Rice, Mango Chutney and drizzled with Ginger.

THE WINE LIST & COCKTAILS
As for the wine list, it boasts a wide choice of local and well-known wines from around the world, available by the glass. It’s always a massive bonus for me when restaurants sell a good selection of wines by the glass. The cocktail menu was very varied and included some signature cocktails, expertly mixed by the bartender, and non-alcoholic choices were also available.
TO FINISH THE MEAL
My dinner companions and I sadly didn’t order dessert, and I say sadly because the dessert menu had some tempting choices, but after such huge portions, we were just too full. I class a restaurant on many factors, but a varied dessert menu is one of the top five factors for me. Again, Sailor’s Rest didn’t disappoint, with classic choices such as Apple Pie (my all-time favourite), to Raw Cacao and Banana Vegan Cake. There were also types of waffles and ice-cream on offer, including a low calorie one too!
Sailor’s Rest is the perfect place to enjoy fine dining in tranquil and plush surroundings. Its location alone sets it above many high-end restaurants. It is the intimate atmosphere, smooth and subtle music playing in the background and the Mediterranean Sea as a backdrop, which makes it a bit more special. A unique combination to be enjoyed at any time; from morning coffee and brunch to a leisurely lunch, a celebratory dinner or an intimate party. It really is the ideal location to enjoy their culinary delights.
Sailor’s Rest will definitely be seeing me again very soon. After all, I do want to try out those dishes I was mulling over, and this time I’ll leave room for dessert!
